  • Am I Alone On This?
  • by kitte1845 Last comment: Yesterday at 10:45 PM
  • My 21st birthday is coming up and I can't help to think about my biological mom. I feel like I am alone on this and that no one else can understand my situation. I have talked to friends about it and all I hear is "You're adopted parents have given you everything. Why would you want to think about the woman that gave you up?" All of those comments make me feel horrible and I just want...

  • What to do when time-outs don't work?
  • by arkansas parent Last comment: Yesterday at 10:15 PM
  • He mostly does it when he cant have something. He has no problem telling us what he wants, or expressing himself at all. I moved his time-out to the hall away from everyone, but he just sits there singing or playing with his feet as happy as can be. I'm hoping the fun will wear off soon and he will start to not like it so much.

  • It's been a very long time since I checked the forums. Rearranged my "favorites", and it moved guat forums down the list so I don't see it as often. Our newest daughter came home in November 2007. She was one of the last to come home from the orphanage our four lived in together in Guat City. Very sadly, the changes brought about by the Hague to address the corruption also...

  • Please remember that adoption.com is NOT a matching stie. Adoption.com chat rooms, message boards and blogs are NOT places for adoptive parents and adoption professionals to solicit expectant parents. It is not appropriate for adoption professionals or hopeful parents to post "I can help" messages or Internet addresses for potential birth parents to visit or to send this type of e-mail or...

  • I would recommend going international, you usually need to have physical problems to do domestic adoption. Occasionally if you are willing to pay a higher rate you can go through a facilitator and do domestic, but you'd want to call a few and ask their opinion.

  • I'm not talking about quack cures. There is no cure, but things can be made better. Coconut oil is being heavily researched and is currently a leading therapy in Alzheimer's patients. It seems to be able to delay deterioration of brain tissue and is currently the only treatment shown to restore some function that had been lost. It is also being tested for effectiveness in other neurological...

  • by Shiree132 Last comment: Yesterday at 10:00 PM
  • Here the CASA (court appointed special advocate, the voice in court for the child) is the GAL. Usually this is a volunteer. Yes, you can bring that up, and the GAL/CASA should be visiting your child in your home, on visits, and know all about the case, so that when court hearings come up, there is someone to speak up from the child's point of view.
